The Retreat Recording Studio
Retreat Recording Studios is a high end writing and recording studio designed to be a creative environment taking full advantage of its idyllic location. The Retreat is an escape from the hustle and bustle where bands and musicians can focus on creativity. Set in a barn conversion, in a rural setting, the studio is situated in one acre of gardens overlooked by the South Downs with views of the sea to the South and the picturesque village of Ovingdean to the North. However, the studio is located just 10 minutes from Brighton if you are looking for a break from the recording process.
The studio consists of two live rooms, one full height room that is great for recording drums and a second live room which is located under the mezzanine control room, and which houses an exceptional sounding Yamaha C6 Grand Piano, a Chappell upright piano and a selection of vintage keyboards. Due to the studios rural location it is also free from external noises.
The Control room is equipped around Pro Tools, a Neve PSM 12 console and a great selection of outboard including EMI Valve Pre’s, API’s, Kush Audio and Empirical labs. Add the extensive high end microphone list and you have a top end recording and writing setup.
The Retreat recording studios is the perfect hideaway to write and record your next tracks or album. We can arrange catering or you can visit one of the many bars, cafe’s and restaurants in Rottingdean or Brighton. If accommodation is needed we will be happy to recommend the best places to stay. Privacy is important and this is why artists such as Nick Cave, Bat for Lashes and Rag ’N’ Bone Man have all found solace at the studio.
